Do I need to Recalibrate after a Windshield Replacement?
Yes! you need your windshield recalibrated after a replacement.
Windshield cameras are part of the safety systems in your vehicle.
Some of the most common Advanced Driver Assistance Systems in vehicles today include systems that your vehicle needs to operate safely.
Services
There are two types of windshield calibrations:
Static – This is done using a targeting system while the car is still.
Dynamic – This is performed while driving the vehicle.
Depending on the manufacturer, some require a static calibration, and others require a dynamic.
Some manufacturers require both. Give us a call to determine what you need.
When to Recalibrate
- Windshield Replacement
- Minor Collisions
- Disconnection of Forward Camera
- Lower or Lifting a Vehicle
What Systems ADAS Controls
Collision Avoidance (CAS)
When sensors detect an object that might collide with the vehicle, the system sends warnings to the driver and automatically initiates braking to reduce speed and minimize the severity of the impact.
Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
Using the camera, this system processes images and patterns to detect the vehicle’s position to the lane markings and signal when drifting occurs.
Lane Keep Assist (LKA)
Working in coordination with LDW, Lane Keep Assist (LKA) can enable a function to actively steer the vehicle between markings.
Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) is an excellent feature. It utilizes sensors, such as radar or lidar, to monitor the distance and speed of vehicles in front, allowing for automated speed adjustments to maintain a safe distance from the car ahead of you.
Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM)
This system enhances the driver’s awareness of vehicles or objects in the blind spot areas. It issues a timely auditory signal to prevent potential collisions.
Pedestrian Detection (PD)
This system analyzes information from the camera and sensors and signals with an auditory alert when a person is detected. Highly helpful to avoid hitting a person in range of the vehicle.
Driver Monitoring System (DMS)
The system typically uses an infrared camera or sensors to capture the driver’s physical features and steering behavior. The advanced technology can alert the driver to focus on the road.
Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR)
This system uses cameras to detect and interpret in real-time information about speed limits, stop signs and other important road signage.
